Bio:
Youngeun is passionate about understanding and embracing unique design challenges, as well as sustainable living. She enjoys music, art, and culture. Youngeun finds value in all aspects of her profession, from fast-paced internal team meetings to exploring the unique essences of space. But, she’s especially motivated by strong coffee. Youngeun is a graduate of Andrew’s University, where she received her Master of Architecture and Planning degree.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
On a Chilean mission trip to build churches and classrooms. I absolutely fell in love with the problem solving aspect of the design-build process and interacting with locals to find creative solutions.
What do you do?
I am a designer with over 6 years of experience in the architecture profession. I have worked on a variety of project types from a shipping container art gallery, multi-family, tiny-homes, to large scale community projects.
What excites you in the work you do? Who or what inspires you professionally?
It's exciting when I'm able to come up with creative solutions to complex problems. I love seeing a project evolve from screen, to prints, to construction and finally to habitation and functionality.

When I'm able to help individuals and communities in need with the skillset I've been developing.

Featured Project Description:
The Fairpoint Condominiums are situated on top of a 40-foot knoll in Chattanooga’s North Shore. From this promontory far above most adjoining structures, residents have panoramic views of the surrounding area. The four-story building is topped with a fifth-floor roof garden and green space, and contains twenty-four 1,158 square foot two-bedroom units distributed across three floors. Parking is partially under the structure which appears as hovering above ground from some vantage points.
