Who or what inspires you professionally?
Architecture to me is all about storytelling; with buildings serving not only as as a vessel for different people's stories but also a physical embodiment of them. Creating spaces for those stories to take place is what drives me.

Bio:
Tre Yancy is an associate project manager for Fleming Architects in Memphis, TN. After graduating with a B.Arch from Howard University, he returned home to bring his service and energy to the city that he loves through multifamily, education and adaptive reuse projects. As a Memphis native, he’s also worked with a neighborhood development group in the Binghampton community creating new spaces and various organizations cultivating career development opportunities for local emerging professionals.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
I used to draw my dads office building when I was younger everyday I'd got to work with him. Then I'd build it with Legos when I got home. My parents suggested that I look into architecture as a profession when I got older...
What do you do?
As an architectural associate, designer, and project manager (simply put) I create spaces for people.
What excites you in the work you do?
Watching how people experience, move through, and interact with the spaces that we create.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
Getting to rehab a blighted field in the neighborhood my family has lived for decade. It was once the site of the elementary school my parents and grandparents all went to.

Featured Project Description:
Originally built in 1912, the Conwood Building was the home of the American Snuff Company as their primary tobacco factory. Now a rehabbed adaptive reuse project, this mixed-use building has been given a new life housing a multi-family development and office headquarters. Conwood is a blend of new spaces intentionally placed to highlight historic aspects of the existing building - creating unique moments across the 6 building complex.
