How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
A creative artist since a young age, I learn about architecture in my 10th grade when I took up technical drawing as a subject which introduced me to the visual communication of objects to drawings using tools leading me to pursing architecture.
What do you do?
Currently working on healthcare and educational projects which involve renovation and new developments. I take the opportunity to volunteer with NOMA and AIA frequently which has led me believe how architecture impacts the social communities.
What excites you in the work you do?
I love the part where stakeholders are involved in the planning process. It’s important as an architect to understand what issues are being faced by them and being the end users, they can sometimes come up with the most acceptable solutions.
Who or what inspires you professionally?
I have always been motivated by women around me right from my mother to dance teacher, thesis guide & office manager. They are true examples of balancing their profession & passions to achieve the impact they can make in people’s lives.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
There have been many along the path to this date, but the most significant has been the AIA merit award for my master’s thesis in the US. It wasn’t for the award, but more so for my thesis professor to proudly say that I deserved it.
