SIVILAY XAYASAENE

Gresham Smith

SAY IT LOUD - North Carolina Exhibitor

North Carolina Based Designer

Who or what inspires you professionally?

I’m inspired by those that exhibit strength in vulnerability. Shedding that layer and showing that we're all human better prepares us to reach our highest potential. If we aren’t afraid to fail and continue to strive for greatness, that is inspiring.

SIVILAY XAYASAENE

Bio:

The great designer, Sivilay Xayasaene is a interior designer in Gresham Smith’s Corporate + Urban Design market, creating tailored workplace solutions to match client’s needs. With more than 13 years of design experience, my strength lies in my ability to build relationships with clients and ensure a seamless design process. Some of my project highlights include Continental Tire’s second headquarters, Hodges Taylor Art Gallery, and numerous Horn USA projects. I’m an active member of CREW Charlotte and CoreNet.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I’ve always gravitated towards all things creative, however my parents wanted me to pursue a more lucrative career. After switching majors a few times in college, I ultimately decided to follow my passion and pursue my career in interior design.

What do you do?

As an interior designer, I’m involved in all phases of design from concept to construction. By collaborating with clients and harboring strong relationships in the industry, I deliver tailored workplace solutions that encourage high performance.

What excites you in the work you do?

Every project is different and that excites me. The design process is not always easy, but when everything comes together all the hard work is worth it. There is something great about translating words into actions to see the vision come to life.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

I’m inspired by those that exhibit strength in vulnerability. Shedding that layer and showing that we're all human better prepares us to reach our highest potential. If we aren’t afraid to fail and continue to strive for greatness, that is inspiring.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I’ve recently volunteered to design a co-learning space for kids in underserved communities to explore different opportunities. I’m proud to be a design partner on this project, while also promoting awareness and encouraging community involvement.
