Who or what inspires you professionally?
I have always been inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright after studying him at university. His creation of architecture that performs in harmony with humanity and the environment is an inspiration and precisely the type of architecture I strive to create.
SARAH O'HALLORAN
Bio:
With 7 years of industry experience, I’m currently working for a medium-sized architectural practice that specializes in multi-residential projects. I am passionate about the development of a strong project concept that focuses on the experience of the user and strives to enhance their quality of life. My aim is to create architecture that utilises ‘placemaking’ as a process of designing spaces that embody the ambitions and unique character of the local community.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
Architecture has always been a natural fit for me. As a child, I loved scribbling down floor plans. Studying Architecture at university deepened my passion, as I discovered the opportunity to craft spaces that enrich the lives of their inhabitants.
What do you do?
I am involved in the Construction Documentation phase of multi-residential projects where services and structural coordination is paramount. I develop façade details where the junctions of elements are key to the overall design intent of the project.
What excites you in the work you do?
I am excited about devoting my time to developing spaces that humans experience on a day to day basis. My passion lies within the finer grain detail of the built environment from the lighting to the materiality.
Who or what inspires you professionally?
I have always been inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright after studying him at university. His creation of architecture that performs in harmony with humanity and the environment is an inspiration and precisely the type of architecture I strive to create.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
My proudest accomplishment was observing the construction of The Henderson; a medium density apartment building in Glen Iris. After having worked on its documentation for several months, it was unreal to see the building come to life before my eyes!
