Featured Project Name:
Roaring Desolation: a Sand Palace for the Badlands
Featured Project Location:
Badlands National Park, South Dakota
Featured Project Completion Date:
unbuilt
Role in Featured Project:
Designer
Featured Project Description:
The Sand Palace will resurrect the site and invite people to learn and celebrate the unique history of the Badlands. Deploying across the site, the sculptural forms envelop the building enclosure and residual forms create outdoor architectural experiences within the landscape. The circulation is a long, narrow procession guided by a metal corridor. The Tyrannosaurus Rex takes the spotlight of fossil exhibitions. The dinosaur should have never been lost to a museum in a city far away.
