Who or what inspires you professionally?
I draw inspiration mainly from art and the nature around me. I'm fascinated by how a structure can embrace its surroundings and create a connection with people.

Bio:
The great designer, Salo Levinas is an internationally recognized architect known for his distinguished designs. His work brings innovative approaches to challenges presented by a broad array of institutional, educational, commercial, sacred, and residential clients. He enjoys addressing the site-specific constraints presented by urban projects and is known for bringing fresh solutions respectful of and responsive to the site context.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
Art was an important component of my life growing up due to my mother’s own creative process in the fashion industry. I studied sociology and physics, but soon realized that I have an eye for design and pursued architecture.
What do you do?
I am the Principal of Shinberg.Levinas where I lead our design team, direct our engagement with clients and handle business development.
What excites you in the work you do?
To collaborate with others and to introduce innovative and fresh designs to the community. I love understanding how society functions and how I could serve society using my creative talents, and architecture allows me to do that.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
To be a part of the creation of institutional work – whether for pre-schoolers or adults – having a hand in what will ultimately help improves their lives is very fulfilling.

Featured Project Description:
Pro bono construction and design for a 3,500 SF public library in Parque Satelite, San Salvador in collaboration with architect Guillermo Altamirando, and local artists. Project includes public spaces for community events and gatherings, and classrooms for accessible education. The library aims to serve the underprivileged community where it will house approximately 10,000 books, both physical and digital, donated from local Universities, The American School and the DC Public Library System.
