Who or what inspires you professionally?
I derive the most inspiration from my wife. She has tremendous drive and the most positive person I have ever known. She is a steady force of motivation for me. I also get inspired by my colleagues, current educational studies, and traveling.

Bio:
Safari Love has over 15 years of design collaboration & execution experience in the field of Design, as well as hands-on experience in Construction. He has served as a Code Enforcement Inspector with the Department of Housing & Community Development for the City of Memphis before making the design of buildings his profession. Safari particularly enjoys focusing on sustainability when tackling projects. He also volunteers in several local community and professional organizations.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
I was introduced to architecture as a young adult working in construction. However, it was much later, after I attended architectural conferences and learned how a space could affect our emotions, that I realized I wanted a career in this field.
What do you do?
I am a Co-owner and Designer in an architecture firm in Memphis, TN. I look for ways to engage and collaborate with the community by fostering relationships with students, educators, emerging professionals, developers, and community leaders.
What excites you in the work you do?
Being a part of projects that can provide hope to our client, our design team, and most importantly the end user, is very exciting. Although our work comes with a heavy responsibility that can be humbling at times, it is quite rewarding.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
Deciding to be the Co-owner of Design Love Studio LLC with my wife. This decision has led to many community-based projects that allow me to give back to impoverished and disinvested communities similar to the neighborhood I was raised in as a youth.

Featured Project Description:
A much-needed facelift along with selective renovation of interior spaces is being planned for this neighborhood community center originally built in 1969. Due to the limited budget associated with this project, minimal strategic design elements incorporated at the current building entrances will positively impact the overall streetfront elevations. Elements included are new metal canopies, storefront glazing, decorative mechanical screens, metal roof, lighting, and signage as art installations.
