Who or what inspires you professionally?
I'm inspired by every person I work with. I have something to learn from each person in a team, and I try my best to keep those connections I make alive. In truth, the list of people would be endless.
PRISCILLA CUADRA
Bio:
The Great Designer Priscilla Cuadra is an architect and medical planner at HKS Architects in Coral Gables with Nicaraguan roots. Over her six years at HKS, she has grown to appreciate emergency departments after experiencing a traumatic event where her grandfather was diagnosed with end-stage heart disease. The experience of seeking refuge in hospitals has made her very aware of how important these spaces are in society. Her vision is to strive towards creating healing environments for both patients and families.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
I first learned about Architecture through High school. It was always something that was casually brought up to me as a kid. I spend my whole childhood drawing and generally being creative, so it was an easy transition. And I loved it.
What do you do?
I work on Healthcare Projects in the South-Florida area mainly. But I have also been a part of incredible teams working in remote places like Trinidad and Tobago.
What excites you in the work you do?
What excites me is finding a simple solution to a complicated problem.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
My proudest professional achievement is running the project I submitted here. The idea of being a Project Architect was one that seemed so overwhelming and challenging. But with support, I found a way!

Featured Project Description:
Broward health sunrise freestanding emergency department (FSED) is approximately 18,500 sq.ft, 15 exam room facility licensed under Broward health medical center. This project is the first ever joint venture between memorial regional health systems and Broward health. This joint pursuit features many innovative methods of emergency treatment, including- triage pods, on-stage-off stage access for adults, and flexible access to results waiting for families that are on the go.
