Who or what inspires you professionally?
Tampa Cigar Factories have been an inspiration my whole life. The diverse, intriguing history in this City and rehabilitating them captured my imagination as a kid. I enjoy learning more about them and seeing them re-imagined throughout the City.
NICOLE L. PETERIKA
Bio:
The Great Designer Nicole Peterika is the President and Lead Architect of MAG4, Inc., an urban Tampa architecture firm. Founded in 2005, MAG4 has been woman-owned and operated since 2016. She is also the owner of FloraVilla 2020, LLC, a boutique mixed-use office and apartment rental property in Tampa Heights, connecting Armature Works and Ybor City. A Tampa native, her family of four (plus dogs and cats and, at times, chickens) has been in Tampa Heights since 2013.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
It started for me when my father used to bring home items left in rental cars. One day, he came home with presentation boards of taped-out floor plans. I started 'redlining' floor plans in newspaper ads to show how I would design my dream home.
What do you do?
I'm President of my firm, MAG4, acquired after my first son was born. I practice primarily commercial architecture, including civic tenant buildouts and renovations.
What excites you in the work you do?
Even if the work isn’t ‘glamorous,’ it is always challenging.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
I love that I am an example of a Woman practicing Architecture, running a business, and raising a family. Building this life is what gives me pride.
