Bio:
Naa is a 2nd in Command (2iC) architectural graduate. She has always had an interest in the relationship between architecture and nature. Naa is interested in how this idea is explored in East Asian architecture. Sustainability principles, materiality and design focused on the end user also guide Naa in her design thinking. Naa hopes to progress her career to eventually lead projects that satisfy the client and positively impact the end user of the build, the environment and public realm
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
In primary school I remember looking at a book about traditional Japanese architecture. The materials and spaces in that book stayed with me, long before I knew what architecture was. After doing architecture for two terms in senior school, I knew.
What do you do?
I assist with developing concepts for projects, that means researching, sketching ideas and discussing ideas with seniors. I document projects for construction – looking up regulations to represent elements on drawings and then drawing them
What excites you in the work you do?
Creating new design concepts for building - thinking about the history surrounding the site, the proposed future use and how different people could interact with the building. Also, working collaboratively in a team

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
Completing the town planning package for Elevated Public Realm, I was able to challenge myself. Participating in SAY IT LOUD NAARM exhibition, working with the collaborators & working with team of designers for my company to submit to the exhibition

Creating the concept design & preparing the town planning package. I communicated with consultants to help realise the project & liaised with the senior architects/designers on the project to help form a strong narrative and conceptual design
Featured Project Description:
This project is designed as a contemporary Civic addition to a regional hub. The design draws on elements of the industrial mining structures, the proportion of Victorian era development, and the hues, reflections and storytelling of the native landscape and Traditional Owners, weaving these together to create an Architecture that is complementary yet receding to the context. High Environmental Design standards have also been set.
