Who or what inspires you professionally?
My inspiration comes from my parents. They both taught me the importance of hardwork and resilience which are both necessary for success in architecture and life. My grit and desire to succeed even in the face of challenges comes from their guidance.
MICHAEL ADETUNJI ADENIYI
Bio:
I am a Nigerian-American Designer based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I obtained an Associates and BS of Technology degrees from Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, BSc and MSc in Architecture from Caleb University, Lagos. Moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2017 for a MArch program at Kendall College of Art and Design. Since graduating from KCAD, I have worked on these types of projects: Multi-Family Housing, Mixed Use, Retail, Historic Renovation, community development, K-12, and Higher Education.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
First learned about architecture at 16, later inspired by my elder brother having spent time visiting an architecture studio in college. My desire to explore ways to intersect computer science, design and construction drove me to study architecture.
What do you do?
I am an Architectural Designer at Tower Pinkster where I collaborate with colleagues to actualize projects. I am also personally engaged in research and development into how digital fabrication and rapid construction can influence affordable housing.
What excites you in the work you do?
I am fascinated by the impact my work in architecture continues to have on the built environment. Being able to help develop my immediate environment and be part of a group of professionals championing this course are what keeps me highly motivated.
Who or what inspires you professionally?

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
My proudest accomplishment was working as a Clerk of Works on the 189-Unit Jacob Mews multi-family residential housing estate project in Yaba, Lagos. Most of my early experience in architecture and construction management stemmed from the project.

Featured Project Description:
The Heartside Skate Park was designed to create an enabling environment for the Heartside community. The project proposes a place of rest and togetherness for people living in the Heartside area. The project creates indoor and outdoor programs to bring together all classes of citizens living within the Heartside neighborhood. This will encourage relationships notwithstanding users' social status, gender or age. This makes the Heartside Skate Park a meeting and greeting place for all.
