What excites you in the work you do?

I have a chance to work on some very large and exciting projects that will change the built-environment. Every project is unique in its own way with new challenges to be solved through experience, research and imagination.

Bio:

The Great designer, Melvin green is the principal in charge of architectural design and planning at KME Architects, Melvin is a proven leader and has gained recognition from his peers throughout the architectural community over the last 30 years. Melvin has extensive experience in every facet of architectural design. He has completed numerous master planning projects to include commercial, religious, educational and healthcare projects in the greater Las Vegas area

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

My elementary school teacher realized that I was a very good artist after seeing some of my art- work and recommended I take some art classes. In high school I took mechanical drafting classes that inspired me to major in Architecture.

What do you do?

I am a Principal at KME Architects. I assist with the architectural programming, design, and business development of the company.

What excites you in the work you do?

I have a chance to work on some very large and exciting projects that will change the built-environment. Every project is unique in its own way with new challenges to be solved through experience, research and imagination.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

My proudest achievement among my many accomplishments is the rehabilitation of existing & vacant houses in the Hill Section of New Haven CT. There I learned the humanistic approach to Architecture, it is & always will be the best approach to design.

Featured Project Description:

The Historic Westside School, first opened in 1923 and the first to integrate students from the nearby Paiute Tribe and first school in Las Vegas to welcome African-American students in the 1940’s. KME Architects was commissioned to design a masterplan for the 5-acre site and restore this building to its original state, culminating with the design and restoration of the original building that now holds a LEED Gold Certification and is listed on the National Register of Historic places.
