Who or what inspires you professionally?
I am inspired by my family legacy in design and construction, by my peers from Cornell and UCLA who continue to do amazing work, by NOMA members, to open doors for them, and to provide a healthier, more sustainable built environment for my community.

Bio:
Mr. Collins is a licensed architect and is currently a Principal at Partner Energy providing design consulting, and project/construction management for projects pursuing green certification such as LEED, GreenPoint Rated and others; Zero Net Energy, energy modeling, commissioning, and HERS verifications. Mr. Collins is a LEED Accredited Professional, a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor, a Green Globes Professional, a Green Globes Assessor, and an ARC Performance professional.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
I decided I wanted to be an architect in elementary school. I was fortunate to have family members who were practicing architects and general contractors. My family gave me opportunities and encouragement to pursue architecture as a career.
What do you do?
I am a licensed architect, primarily focused on sustainability focused projects. The majority of my work has been in the affordable housing and civic/institutional sectors.
What excites you in the work you do?
I am always excited to see the impact that my projects have on the built environment. Whether that be improving the life of one person or family in an affordable housing development or bring much-needed services to a community via civic projects.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
Receiving the 2022 AIA-LA Presidential Award for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Receiving the 2021 AIA Long Beach/South Bay Presidential Award, and receiving the 2021 NOMA National President's Award.

Featured Project Description:
The Westview Village project involves the redevelopment of 180 existing public housing units as a new neighborhood of 286 affordable rental apartments for families and seniors, 34 for-sale townhomes, and 4 community buildings on a 20 acre site in Ventura. The project as a whole is designed to achieve LEED Neighborhood Development and each building is projected for LEED Platinum certification.
