Bio:
The great designer, Kamini Chavda is an Indian born Architect raised in the Middle East. She works as a Technical Designer for Gensler Phoenix. Having been raised & educated in a diverse culture, she brings in a variety of perspectives and ideas to each project and its approach. Her passion, hard work and determination is her driver to deliver a great design.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
I grew up in the city of Dubai during which I witnessed the entire skyline of the city grow and change with some of the most amazing architectural masterpieces in our industry which inspired me to purse a profession in Architecture.
What do you do?
I am a Technical Designer at Gensler Phoenix. I work on various types of projects ranging from small scale retail outlets to large scale commercial high-rise. I work alongside my team to design, document and administer building projects.
What excites you in the work you do?
“One of the great beauties of architecture is that each time, it is like life starting all over again!”- Renzo Piano That’s exactly what excites me about this work. It is a constant flow of new ideas, creativity and evolution - which is never boring!

A client/customer/end user’s positive experience in a building/space that I contributed to is my biggest inspiration.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
It is yet to come! Although, every time I see a project that I contributed to open to the public and see them enjoying the experience, it makes me very proud!

Featured Project Description:
Margaritaville Resort is a Jimmy Buffett-themed resort in Lake Conroe that sits on 186 acres of waterfront property and features 360 guestrooms, a golf course, conference center and spa. The rooms are housed in a 20-story main hotel tower, as well as waterfront villas on the lake. It has various themed restaurants on the property such as License to Chill, Joe Merchant, LandShark Bar & Grill and 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill.
