JUNE GRANT
Bio:
The great designer, June Grant from Blink! LAB architecture is a multi-disciplinary studio. We believe in architecture is about being conscientious. By asking the question, “How can we give more?”, we are able to creatively investigate the transformative potential of space, through Design, Advocacy + Technology. We believe that it is the very wall that reflects our socio-cultural values about the future.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
Since the age of 5 I’ve been interested in the transformation of the built environment. Growing up in Jamaica, I often watched construction sites and marveled at the accretive process and eventually how people used those spaces
What do you do?
I am a research-based architect with a background in sculpture and economic analysis. I seek a conscientious architecture - looking at behaviors and social history while projecting a more responsible future through the use of emerging technologies.
What excites you in the work you do?
Generosity is a key ingredient in the way I work. “How can we do more” with what we have or how many experiences can we integrate into the design solution. I design for the inner light that I perceive in everyone and the world I wish to see.
Who or what inspires you professionally?
Productive Co-operation and new Technology. Words and meanings differ over time, across cultures and across age-groups. he challenge to synthesize these differing views into a contemporary, understood form remains an inspiration.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
There have been many recognitions. However, one of my proudest moments was being ask to present at the Obama Green Gov Conference. It was an honor to be recognized for the ground-breaking environmentally-sound design the team delivered.
