JULIET SEREM KIBOMA

Bio:

The great architect,  Juliet Serem, AIA, NOMA, is the Principal Architect at Studio Boma, a design studio based in Houston, Texas, specializing in architecture and interiors for both residential and commercial clients. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design and a Master of Architecture from the University of Maryland. How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I always had a passion and talent for art. I didn’t know any architects or designers growing up but my parents strongly suggested that I look into studying interior design and architecture in college. Luckily, I fell in love with the field instantly!

What do you do?

I run my own small practice, which means I do everything. I design and manage projects, correspond with clients, contractors and consultants, admin work and marketing. I also recently hired a junior staff and I enjoy mentoring and training her.

What excites you in the work you do?

I enjoy creating schematic sketches and diagrams as I start to visualize what a project could be. I love selecting samples and curating finish palettes. I also enjoy my meetings with clients, listening to their vision and hearing their feedback
