Bio:
The Great Designer Juliana Touma, RA, is the founder and principal of Atelier Akari Architecture which is based in Miami, Florida. For the past decade Juliana has maintained an architecture practice specializing in private residences, commercial spaces -- including the Manoush showroom in Paris, France and the New Parliament of Jamaica, acting through the Houston-based firm Hines Architecture and Design. Currently, Juliana is the newly appointed director at ArquitectonicaStudio whose goal is to create innovative architectural projects, environments and designed objects for cultural and commercial clients. For over a decade Juliana has maintained an international architecture practice, as director of ArquitectonicaSTUDIO she will share this unique perspective as a multinational woman to the field of architecture.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
My career decision was solidified after I coupled my University of Miami School of Architecture experience with my first summer internship experience in Boca Raton with KCA Design Group Inc.
What do you do?
I am an architect
What excites you in the work you do?
Meeting and working with new residential clients, while trying to "translate" their dreams into the built environment.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
The new houses of Parliament in Kingston Jamaica is my proudest professional accomplishment to date.

Featured Project Description:
The new houses of parliament will include two debate chambers, which include the House of Representatives and Senate debate chambers. The remainder of the facility will include parliamentary support spaces, offices, a museum, a library, visitors accommodations and other amenities.
