Bio:
The great architect, Joshua A. Foster, NOMA, Assoc. AIA, is a Los Angeles County based award-winning architectural designer and Community Design Consultant. He is the Founder and CEO of JAF Creative Solutions, LLC— a community-impact focused strategic partnership and design consultancy firm — and an Adjunct Architecture Professor at East Los Angeles College. A native of the Philadelphia area, Joshua is also a graduate of both Columbia University and the University of Southern California.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
It was not until my junior year of high school though that I would first link together my love of cities and people with the thought of pursuing architecture as a career while I began to decide what college to attend.
What do you do?
After starting my career as a multi-family housing architectural designer, I sounded JAF Creative Solutions LLC which is a community-impact design focused consultancy firm. I am also an Adjunct Architecture Professor at East Los Angeles College.
What excites you in the work you do?
What excites me the most about the work I do is the opportunity to help maximize the impact of those looking to empower communities of color on a daily basis.

What inspires me the most professionally is the resiliency, intelligence, and creativity of the black community and how we continue to pour who we are into everything that we do. I love us!
What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
My proudest professional accomplishment was being able to launch JAF Creative Solutions LLC. The privilege to have achieved the success and have built the relationships necessary to do so has been very rewarding.

This project is a culmination of two years of brand design for entrepreneurs and small businesses of color that were in need of developing a digital presence in order to grow their business while also serving their communities. The Small Business and Entrepreneur Digital Brand Design service of JAF Creative Solutions puts the mission of Community Building into action in a way that goes beyond the physical built environment in an effort to empower communities of color.
