Bio:
The Great Designer Jessica Rogers is a creator based in Miami. Jessica attended DASH, a magnet art school in Miami's design district, and earned her B.Arch from Syracuse University. Currently, Jessica works at a local architecture firm. Prior to this, she worked at the AIA headquarters, where she managed and developed EDI-related programs and resources for emerging professionals and women. She continues this charge as the co-host of the She Builds Podcast, which aims to elevate women in the AEC industry through storytelling.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
I first learned about architecture while attending a local magnet school here in Miami. I loved painting and creating, so architecture seemed like another art form. Something that can help the world become more beautiful, better.
What do you do?
By day, I work at an architecture firm. Outside of work, I am researcher, novice historian, and content creator for She Builds Podcast.
What excites you in the work you do?
I like that I'm sharing stories that most don't know about. That my work has the opportunity to inspire others, as it inspires me.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
All our speaking engagements, make me feel proud of the work that we do. Having the opportunity to speak to group of students in South Africa was very powerful. Also, episodes of our show are in college syllabi, we are really making a difference.

She Builds Podcast is a podcast featuring the seldom-told stories of women who build; women whose worth is not taught in schools, but who have shaped the industries of architecture, construction, and development over the last century. The podcast was started by three friends who, after graduating from architecture school together, wanted to fill in the gaps in their education and share those with others.
