Who or what inspires you professionally?
Peter Zumthor and Thomas Heatherwick - poetic and tactile from the micro to the macro level. The buildings are like sculptures, a habitable sculpture. It’s an escape for the mundane mind and yet its real, you can feel and experience it!

Bio:
Known for her hard working determination and pursuit of extremely high standards, Jessica is a recognized successful architect and a Director at Plus Architecture. Jessica began her career at Plus Architecture nearly 20 years ago after winning a student competition. Educated in both Australia and Asia, Jessica is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
My Father is a builder, so growing up visiting building sites, looking at drawings, listening and observing his discussions helped significantly in my understanding of the spaces and its environment.in.
What do you do?
My role as a director of a company remains largely the same as what every architect needs to do in their career, from the inception to the end, client to staff, I am always involved.
What excites you in the work you do?
Finding creative solutions, utilizing spaces wisely, creating efficiencies to reduce wastage is very important to me. It excites me when our effort is recognized by many return clients and they understand where we add value to their projects.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
Being able to design, built and lived in my own home on a carte blanche site.

Inspired by Melbourne’s Botanic Gardens and Port Phillip Bay, this 19 storey mixed used building will house offices, hotel and apartments with separation of each use expressed in the vertical and horizontal stacking within each segment. Distinguished by its bold curved and segmented sculptural façade, Plus Architecture’s desire to make the best use of sightlines to the east and west displays a finely tuned craftsmanship supported by a thorough analysis of site context and design brief.
