Who or what inspires you professionally?

God's creation inspires me. He is the true architect and builder, and his design never ceases to inspire me. We mimic his hands' work, which draws me closer to Him.

A native of Costa Rica, Isaac received his Master of Architecture from the University of Memphis. Throughout his educational career, his work reflects an interest in transcending architecture, digital representation, and watercolor. How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

My father and mother had much to do with my interest in design. My father designed and made shoes, and my mother showed me how to draw to keep me quiet during church. I never stopped drawing, so when talent met architecture, they fell in love.

Featured Project Location:

Memphis, TN

Featured Project Completion Date:

Unbuilt

Role in Featured Project:

Design Architect

Featured Project Description:

This project focuses on the remediation of a forgotten and historical site and using my story to design a cancer center that caters to the care and comfort of patients. The patient and site share a similar malignant disease that requires empathic healing. Infusing both patient and site with hope, therapy, and support can bring a brighter future. With the help of a new healing environment, immunocompromised patients can feel protected and nurtured as they continue their fight against cancer.
