SAY IT LOUD - SOUTH DAKOTA Exhibitor
South Dakota Based Designer

Who or what inspires you professionally?

My inspiration comes from the greatest designer of all time, Mother Nature. I galvanize elements from a project's location, such as native materials, color palettes, and textures. I have a passion for the integration of connective, biophilic design.

HALEY M PATRICK

Bio:

The great designer Haley M. Patrick is an interior designer at JLG Architects in Sioux Falls, SD. She earned a B.F.A. in Interior Design from South Dakota State University and is a member of South Dakota Interior Designers (SDID) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). Haley specializes in sustainable finishes that create visual unity and comfort. Drawing on her background in figure skating and graphic design, she makes an impact with strong branding and the choreography of people through space.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I was drawn to interiors as a child, more interested in my Barbie’s house and furniture than the dolls. I took a high school construction class and felt empowered as the only female. Figure skating also shaped me, choreographing the dance of users.

What do you do?

I am an interior designer who choreographs people through space to improve users' health and well-being. I study color psychology, the use of textiles, and its impact on emotions. Creative esthetics can unify and connect interiors and exteriors.

What excites you in the work you do?

No two projects are the same, and for me, that’s the beauty of working in this industry.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

My inspiration comes from the greatest designer of all time, Mother Nature. I galvanize elements from a project's location, such as native materials, color palettes, and textures. I have a passion for the integration of connective, biophilic design.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I'm proud of chasing my dream of working in Las Vegas, NV. Although short-lived, I see how driven I was to pick up my life and move cross-country. I appreciate home more than ever, and I'm confident my unwavering ambition will lead me to my goals.
