EMMA STEVENS

Bio:

The great designer Emma Stevens is a project manager at Ciavarella Design in Mitchell, SD. Her work spans a variety of industries, including commercial, educational, healthcare, retail, and residential, allowing her to continually broaden her knowledge. As a detail-oriented professional, Emma is dedicated to producing well-thought-out designs and comprehensive sets of documents. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with friends and family.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I have always had an interest in art and design and love visualizing what a space could be. After job shadowing an architecture firm my sophomore year of high school, I knew that architecture was what I wanted to do.

What do you do?

As a project manager for Ciavarella Design, I am involved in all stages of a project from initial meetings with the Owner, to preliminary planning and design, construction documentation and specifications, and also construction administration.

What excites you in the work you do?

I enjoy the details and watching a design come to life. The initial planning and design is always fun but I love when a project moves into the CD phase as I enjoy working through the details and figuring out how everything needs to go together.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am inspired by every new project as each one brings a new set of challenges and opportunities to learn and grow.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

I wouldn't say that I have one quite yet but having a completed project and a happy Owner is always an accomplishment.
