Bio:

The great designer, Ronald Bertrand is an architect and an artist living in Atlanta. He is currently working Kennesaw State University as Architectural Project Manager. He is a graduate of Southern Polytechnic State University, currently Kennesaw State University ( back to his Alma Mater). He worked for several well-known firms, such as Bermello, Ajamil and Partners, Williams-Russell and Johnson , Design-Build Concept, THW Design, BH Management, and City of Atlanta.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I was in high school, when I helped the older brother of my friend who was already an architect completing the rendering for a house. I learned that every line was important.

 

What do you do?

I am currently working as a project manager at Kennesaw State university, my project consist of renovating office space for the Marietta and Kennesaw campus (back to my Alma mater) . I enjoy painting abstract and Caribbean scene.

What excites you in the work you do?

I am excited when I see construction elements such as block, brick, nails, wood, glass, come from inertia to become the expression of my design. I am also excited by the desonew ever I see my design work is transformed

​

Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am inspired when owner or end user have an idea and I can transform it into a massing configuration which later is an expression of art and technology. I also enjoy the design process.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

My proudest professional accomplishment was to design and build a two-room classroom building after the earthquake in Haiti.

Featured Project Description:

The Centre Medical Emmanuel has set the objective to be the leading health care facility in the Southeast region of the Haiti. The other hospitals in the vicinity are aware of the service in place and the potential of its current staff in surgery. This hospital will accommodate 100 beds with complete systems capable of providing inpatient and outpatient services as well as emergency care.
