DIANA LISSETTE JUAREZ-MONTANO

Bio:

The Great Designer Diana Juarez-Montano was raised between Mexico and California before making the decision to attend the University of Miami for her Bachelor's degree. Living in multiple cities has allowed her to learn about architecture through culture, and the emotional attachment people develop to the spaces they occupy. Having recently graduated, she is currently pursuing her LEED certification and hopes to obtain her licensure in the near future.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

Traveling to Europe and North Africa, taught me Architecture was much more than its functionality. I am amazed by the longevity that structures can have and passionate about how they can be repurposed to accommodate our rapidly changing lifestyles.

What excites you in the work you do?

Promoting physical, mental, and emotional health through the natural and built environment. Starting with healthcare facilities and extending those principles to every space we inhabit.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Graduating from a highly competitive program and being able to learn from top tier professionals who encourage minorities and provide a safe space for advocacy and growth.

Featured Project Description:

Part of a semester-long study to reinvent a ski destination that will attract multiple audiences with activities year round. Stepping away from a luxury destination, 1647 aims to promote the region's traditions and rich culture for tourists while also providing locals an exceptional food and beverage offering with unmatched views of the French Alps. The renovation of the main restaurant was meant to merge these two audiences in an experience not found anywhere else in the region.
