I was born into the design and construction industry and inherited the gene. I have known since earliest memory that I would be an architect and have never deviated from that desire.

What do you do?

I am the sole owner of my own practice. We are a small firm of 6, so I am involved in every facet of our projects. The firms projects are mostly public facilities for municipalities, counties and the State of Texas.

What excites you in the work you do?

Interpreting the clients functional needs in a new facility that enhances its surroundings. Saving an old building and giving it new life. Developing a master plan that guides, prioritizes and energizes a program.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

Any wonderful, beautiful space for contemplation, for exuberant celebration, or that elevates beyond it's basic function.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

That my firm has been in continuous operation for over 32 years. That I can proclaim numerous facility designs that have benefitted the community. That every female aspiring architect that has worked for me has become a licensed architect.
