CHLOÉ SPEAS
Bio:
The Great Designer, Chloé Speas is recently graduated with Interior Design and a minor in Studio Arts from South Dakota State and truly excited to begin a career in the design industry. Growing up, although she enjoyed many artistic endeavors, Chloé slowly started questioning the purpose and the “why” behind my ventures. She now knows that her “why” is bringing efficiency, function, and beauty in the hope that it makes a positive impact.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
My homeschooling family was not very supportive of higher education. I took a gap year after graduating and realized I would never be happy if I wasn’t creating something. I researched different paths and I just knew Interior Design was for me.
What do you do?
Currently, I work at Moe’s Home Collection in Sioux Falls, SD. It’s a showroom but we also provide residential and small commercial design. I really enjoy learning about the business side of residential design and entrepreneurship.
What excites you in the work you do?
The idea of productive creativity is what pushes me in my work. The idea that I can come up with an idea to be turned into a physical design that positively impacts someone is phenomenal!

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
Honestly, graduating from design school! I am very proud of the dedication I put into my design work while working two jobs, holding the position of Club President for our IIDA Chapter, and even balancing a 1st violin position in the SDSU Orchestra.
