Who or what inspires you professionally?
My father the late Amos W. Hudson, NOMA Founder Wendell J. Campbell and Vernon Jarrett. All three men have provided me with a dream to pursue and Architecture and continue their legacies by giving young black kids a chance to follow their dreams.

Bio:
The great architect, Bryan Wendell Hudson is a licensed Architect in the state of Illinois. He is president and founder of SOMA Design Consultants, an architectural design and construction management firm. He specializes in Residential design small to medium, Commercial, Religious and educational. Bryan has served as Treasurer for the National Organization of Minority Architects and is the current President for NOMA. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago c/o 1997.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
My father introduced me to architecture at 5 years old. After explaining to me what architecture was; I was hooked! That has been my focus since first our conversation. After his death I decided that one day I’d name my firm after him. Amos/SOMA.
What do you do?
I’m a licensed Architect in Illinois. I’ve been running SOMA for 10 years this year. I do residential renovation, new construction, commercial, adaptive reuse, hospitality, childcare, religious facilities and funeral homes.
What excites you in the work you do?
After working in retail I love making my clients happy. I learned about customer service and that goes hand in hand with a successful practice. Also working with students to help them achieve their dreams through NOMA’S Pipeline and NAACP’S ACT-SO.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
Naming my company after my father, serving as NOMA President and Chairing the Founding NAACP ACT-SO Program in the country.
