SAY IT LOUD - FLORIDA Exhibitor
Florida Based Designer

Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am inspired by my mentors’ both developers and architects from my hometown of Detroit, Mi. Much of the landscape of the city includes existing buildings, ripe for creative eyes. The city has been a great lesson in rethinking and renovating.

BRESHEENA JEWEL KINNEY

Bio:

The Great Designer BreSheena is a project coordinator and aspiring architect in Southwest Florida. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, BreSheena graduated from the University of Michigan, and upon graduating she relocated to Central Florida. Following some successful research, she began at the VA hospital in Ann Arbor, it seemed natural to start her professional career in the healthcare sector. She has great experience in master planning, institutional work, and commercial. She is well on her way to licensure.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?

I would gravitate towards design toys in my formative years. Prior to rearranging my room, I would measure everything; drawing a plan to make sure it worked. Architecture seemed like a great mix of my favorite subjects design, creativity and math.

What do you do?

Working with some of the largest healthcare systems in Florida; currently working with both Naples Community and Lee Health. This project examples phased design for clients expecting the least amount of downtime for acute care and business functions.

What excites you in the work you do?

Much of the design services work for any hospital will have you renovating outdated areas, for newer more efficient uses. This 3rd floor renovation is an example of this idea. If you like puzzles, you will like the challenges of hospital projects.

Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am inspired by my mentors’ both developers and architects from my hometown of Detroit, Mi. Much of the landscape of the city includes existing buildings, ripe for creative eyes. The city has been a great lesson in rethinking and renovating.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?

Honored to work with late Eric Means, the only black developer in the city of Detroit after economic downturn, taught me a lesson in imagination & creativity. He inspired me to go back to graduate school. He would be proud to know I passed 3 exams..
