Who or what inspires you professionally?

I am inspired by the end goal and the journey that comes along with it when approaching a project. I have also always had the opportunity to work with amazing people who inspire me – especially my team on The Londoner.

Bio:
The great designer, I have studied Architecture in Karadeniz Technical University and accomplished the master`s degree programme `Building Design` at Izmir Dokuz Eylul University in Turkey, 2006. Currently I am a Senior Designer in Woods Bagot, with 12 years` experience in high end residential, hotel, commercial and mixed-use projects from concept design through to construction/completion in UK, Europe and Middle East.
How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
I’ve always been interested in art and design and was often successful at school in relevant competitions across the country. I chose to pursue architecture at the end of high school as I thought my skills would be best suited in this area.
What do you do?
I’m a Senior Designer at Woods Bagot, working mostly on hospitality projects and interior documentation. I lead project teams to explore new trends and collaborate with other disciplines. Recently I led the guestroom package for The Londoner.
What excites you in the work you do?
I love the positive impact we have on others as architects. This influence helps me stay focused on ensuring we can achieve great spaces for people, sharing ideas and working with other professions.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
The Londoner is definitely one of my proudest accomplishments as it gave me the chance to deliver a high quality design in a strong and dedicated team. I’m so excited to see the impact of this scheme on London and the people who live and visit here.

Featured Project Description:
Completing in 2020, The Londoner is a luxury five-star hotel, comprising 350-rooms, restaurants, a rooftop bar, an underground spa & swimming pool, a 1,000-person capacity ballroom and an Odeon cinema complex. Nestled between historical buildings on a 50m x 50m site in London’s iconic Leicester Square, this flagship of the Edwardian Hotel brand will become the new anchor for this area, and the platform for the relaunch of the West End.
