South Dakota Based Designer
Who or what inspires you professionally?
Driving or walking through towns and seeing beautiful buildings inspires me to create my own beautiful buildings. Concurrently, seeing poorly designed buildings inspires me to help improve the built environment.

How did you first learn about architecture and when did you decide that built environment profession was an area of interest for you?
I didn't know about architecture until high school when I took a drafting class. We learned to hand-draft and use CAD software to design our dream home. It peaked my interest enough to go to college for architecture and I never looked back since.
What do you do?
As a recent graduate, I do a lot of learning. School provided a design foundation, but now I get to create a building from start to finish. I am learning about the technical side of documentation and the communication side with owners/consultants.
What excites you in the work you do?
I love getting to know clients and their particular building needs. It is exciting to either get more creative freedom in a project or to have a tough set of criteria to problem solve around. Architecture is hardly ever boring and redundant.
Who or what inspires you professionally?
Driving or walking through towns and seeing beautiful buildings inspires me to create my own beautiful buildings. Concurrently, seeing poorly designed buildings inspires me to help improve the built environment.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment or achievement?
So far, my proudest accomplishment is just getting a job offer from Koch Hazard Architects. They are a well-established and respectable architecture firm full of amazing, knowledgeable, and unique individuals.
